25 people chase each job vacancy
There are up to 25 unemployed people for every job advertised in Scotland, research by the UK's largest public sector trade union has claimed.
Unison warned the situation would get much worse if 90,000 public sector jobs in Scotland are axed over the next four years.
The union also cited Pricewaterhouse Coopers research that up to 500,000 jobs in the private sector would be lost as a result of the public spending cuts.
